What we can learn from Kate

What we can learn from Kate
The biggest story within the British isles and beyond, is that Prince William will be getting married to Kate Middleton in 2011. The couple, both 28 finally announced their engagement after a lengthy courtship.

Since the beginning the public couple have been the nation's sweethearts and a hope for young women, that we too can find our own prince. I have admired the calming nature of Middleton. In the midst of the regular gossip fodder that fills our screens and papers, made up of divorces, adultery and general mayhem, Middleton has been a picture of patience, integrity and credibility.

Many would have grabbed onto as many headlines and photo shoots as possible whilst dating someone so high profile. All in fear of not getting that engagement ring (or headline). Some women would have been blinded by the short-term lust of glamour and attention, rather than the long-term goal of happiness and comfort.

Even outside of the celebrity world, a lot of women crave immediate titles and immediate results. An eagerness for situations to move much faster than organically feasible, which often leads to rushed choices, wrong decisions and failed outcomes.

There is no perfect timeline when it comes to matters of the heart. However with Middleton's peers pairing with a different partner every month, rushing into marriage and quickly divorcing, it’s proof that the quick fixes in our “microwave culture” often don’t work. So what other way is there? To go with the flow! Take a page out of Kate’s book and letting what will be, be.

I'm not sure what Kate’s method was precisely, but she has received her fairytale ending and is marrying a prince. I truly wish them every success and as many good wishes!
