Legendary actress, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, has died aged 79. According to her publicist she died "peacefully today in Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. She was hospitalised 6 weeks ago with congestive heart failure, a condition with which she had suffered with for many years.Though she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. Sadly, this was not to be."
Renowned for her beauty and glamour, Taylor was a two-time Oscar winner, winning trophies for her roles in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Butterfield 8. She was also known for her tumultuous personal life, which included 8 marriages.
An icon who was emblematic of the Hollywood golden age, Taylor had been in Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles before her passing. Her children were by her side when she died.
